NVIDIA A100 40GB / 80GB GPU Repair

Board-level diagnosis and repair for A100 40GB and A100 80GB, available in both PCIe card and SXM4 module form. We assess power faults, initialization failures, memory errors and instability under load.

SUPPORTED A100 VERSIONS

40GB and 80GB: identify the complete assembly

GPU variantMemoryForm factorAssessment requirements
A100 40GB PCIe40GB HBM2PCIe cardPCIe host and cooling matched to the exact board.
A100 80GB PCIe80GB HBM2ePCIe card80GB-specific assembly and compatible test configuration.
A100 40GB SXM440GB HBM2SXM4 moduleCompatible SXM4 carrier, power and cooling arrangement.
A100 80GB SXM480GB HBM2eSXM4 module80GB SXM4 assembly, carrier and package compatibility review.

The 80GB version has twice the memory capacity of the 40GB version. A100 40GB uses HBM2; A100 80GB uses HBM2e. PCIe and SXM4 are separate physical assemblies with different host and cooling arrangements.

A repair does not imply a 40GB-to-80GB conversion. Package, PCB and replacement-part compatibility are checked against the exact device.

ASSESSMENT ROUTE

How we approach the fault

  1. 01

    Confirm the assembly

Match the 40GB or 80GB version, PCIe or SXM4 form factor, and compatible host setup.

  2. 02

    Assess the fault

Review board condition, electrical findings and platform tests to define the repair scope.

  3. 03

    Repair and validate

Complete approved work, then document the relevant memory, link and load-test results.

COMMON ISSUES

What we assess

Reported symptomAssessment focus
Not detected / initialization failurePower delivery, startup behavior and host or carrier compatibility.
Driver timeout / dropped deviceError logs, software configuration, temperature and power under load.
Memory-related errorsRepeatable memory tests, supporting circuits and GPU/HBM package condition.
Reduced link performancePCIe or NVLink behavior and the associated slot, carrier or host.

REPAIR BOUNDARIES

The assembly determines the scope

A100 PCIe cards and SXM4 modules require different host platforms and cooling arrangements. HBM is part of the GPU package assembly; an HBM-related report does not automatically justify ordinary memory-chip replacement.
